SDN EP 119: How To Get More Views On Your YouTube and Podcast Shows

Spread the love

If you're looking to amp up your omnipresence in the world wide web this new year, it pays to know which tools work, which helps save you a lot of keystrokes and makes repurposing content easier.

Tune in to learn more ? watch the full episode of Stop Doing NothingContent Promotion, Syndication and Distribution with Phil Gerbyshak.

What You Will Discover:

?? Do you make your content work hard for you? The open secret of achieving that is content automation. Leverage your webinars and other long-form content and break them down strategically into smaller ones such as posts, articles, infographics, and podcasts.

?? Treat your content like how real-world TV shows work. Think of it this way: you record, and the camera stops. After airing or getting broadcasted, nobody will ever see it again if you do nothing. See what shows such as what Saturday Night Live does. They'll slice it, and they'll dice it, and they'll put it on their Instagram and Facebook accounts and their YouTube channel. They'll probably put it on their NBC website and blog.

It would be best to treat your content distribution seriously to get the right people to see and reach out to you.

?? Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, you name it. How do you ensure that your content goes in these and everywhere else? Social Selling Expert Phil Gerbyshak reminds the importance of repurposing, repackaging and reformulating content that fits best on these platforms.

?? Create a balance of evergreen content and some that are avocado that means fresh. Consumers prefer reading or consuming stuff that is current but also consider that even old posts will find their way into your audience as long as they stay relevant.

?? Setting aside some money is becoming a necessity to share content in front of not just eyeballs — but the right eyeballs.

Who's your target? Who are the best people who need your products and services? Because frankly, you wouldn't want virality, but real conversations and cash flow.

?? We've seen red flags of what happens when social media goes down. While Facebook still has the most users on the internet, getting billions of eyeballs every single day — be reminded that it's always an excellent plan to diversify your ad spend and social sharing.

?? Fantastic tools for repurposing content. Phil has recommended Agorapulse as his social media management tool for six years. Otter.ai to do transcripts (the transcription engine behind Zoom, as well.) Kapwing video reformatting and editing,  Grammarly online writing assistant and Text Expander to speed up typing.

SDN EP 117: How To Disaster-Proof Your Business With Phil Gerbyshak

Spread the love

?? Let me ask you: are you SURE your business can outlast any outage or any kind of disaster?

If you feel that you are not, allow us to teach you how to handle some of your marketing or your I.T. resources go down and prevent losing what you've built online should the unexpected happen. @philgerbjoins me in this episode as one of the best people to talk about business management and disaster recovery.

? Watch the full episode of Stop Doing Nothing — How to Disaster-Proof Your Business with Phil Gerbyshak. It's one you don't want to miss!

What You Will Discover:

?? The riskiest thing you can do is entrust all your eggs in one social media basket.  It's always good to have multiple social channels with at least three to become "omnipresent".

?? Get everything in the Cloud. In the olden days (before the Cloud), I remember how tedious it was preparing should disasters strike. As the head of disaster recovery for the big data center of a big black and yellow car rental company, we physically had to back up our mainframe stuff to tapes weekly. We shipped it off to a vault in Texas because we assume Oklahoma City gets hit by a tornado and wipes out the data center. We wouldn't sleep for 24 hours to ensure a full recovery and get the business back up and running. The wealth of experience and learnings is what I now carry over into my businesses. You can never be wrong if you always prepare and have a backup.

?? Self-professed tech geek and sales expert Phil Gerbyshak shares, "You want to own as much of your content as you can. It's one of the reasons why email marketing is never going to die."

?? If your domain, email and website are all at the same company – and when that company is down, you have access to nothing. Avoid these points of failure and use our ideal setup to ensure you would still have access to everything. Ideally, it's best to have your domain someplace separate from where your web host is.

SDN EP 116: Highly Productive Habits That Will Make You More Money

Spread the love

Are you tired of being just an observer of life?

This video is for you if you want to change and transition your mind and body, live more fully, get in better shape and sustain good habits in the long term.

What You Will Discover:

?? Why you may be spending time on OPP. So you get ten emails upon waking up in the morning, is your reflex to answer and resolve those issues? Then you are living your life based on Other People's Priorities. It would be best first to do what is essential to you, like meditating, taking your vitamins, stretching, hydrating, and everything else necessary to start your day or the week powerfully.

?? As you start building habits, treat yourself like a seven-day machine, not a five-day machine. If you choose to get up early, eat a certain way, or start any new thing to make your life better, do it for the rest of the week. These are lifestyle habits, not something that you're going to do and then take a break.

?? Don't rest on your purpose. Remember, you are on this planet for bigger things, and so you are going to have to stretch yourself (even on Saturdays and Sundays!) because while everyone else is sleeping, you're going to be awake working on the important stuff.

??  If your body is not in a peak state — nothing else matters. You can't work on your work, business, or finances if you're chowing down a half-gallon of ice cream every night with sugar dragging down your energy levels. So put your health on top priority.

SDN EP 114: Staying Committed to Difficult Goals

Spread the love

The Importance of Staying Committed to Difficult Goals.

How many motivational podcasts and videos have you listened to or watched, and yet you still sit your butt down doing every other thing you need to do in life except HITTING your goals?

Even a super guru on top of the hill wouldn't be able to tell you that staying committed to challenging goals is 100% easy peasy! Because it's not.

In this episode, I will not bombard you with "wise" information. Instead, I will share valuable lessons from my own mistakes that are practical and actionable steps to get you unstuck and finally get you to MOVE and attack your big scary dreams!

What You Will Discover:

?? Be reminded that playing small will do you no good.
Most people are scared to go for their ginormous dreams! Big challenging goals will test you and make you stretch yourself and are so worthwhile because you will come out a different person on the other end.

??  Why "Later" is a success killer!
Most people let life go on autopilot and wait for later or next time that eventually never happens. We get too busy cooking, eating, exercising, socializing, raising kids, sleeping or doing our job or taking out the trash, or mowing the lawn that we don't plan time in our day to plan our life. So if you don't pull up your calendar and say when later is, you're in for a major tragedy.

?? Pick five significant goals.
Make sure those five things are challenging, quantifiable, and the things you can do. Once you focus on those, it will determine everything else that comes after that. What skills will you need? Who are the people you should be with? Determine these to layout your environment, and change your life.

??  Use TV time as a reward when you hit goals.
Sleep, rest, mental refreshing, and even bingeing on your favorite shows are essential for you. However, ensure that you plan and limit that time and use it as a reward for other things you've accomplished.

?? Honor a dream building and planning day.
Set a day in your calendar to stop and do nothing! Let this personal appointment with yourself allow you to pull away from work and distractions and plan. BUILD time into your life to THINK about your life.

?? How to shut down distractions and protect your focus.  Bing, bing, bing... email, text messages, and notifications come in, and you always feel like you have to answer it! Don't be governed by these, and learn how to focus.

??  Follow one course until successful.
Narrowing down the things you want to do and constantly removing everything in your way to focus on one particular goal will work wonders in your life.

??  Be obsessed with time and learn not to waste it.
Take advantage of the tools built into your technology that help you focus and maximize utilities that allow you to be mindful of your every action.

SDN EP: 95 – How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19

Spread the love
“It’s time to get creative.” - Patrick Allmond (29:12-29:13)

We're losing our minds right now because we're used to socializing with people. We've been in quarantine longer than we expected but we have the choice to make the most out of it, no matter how bad things get. In this week's show, we must stay optimistic and focus on how you can stay sane while sheltering in place during COVID-19.

Part One of ‘How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19’

We can walk down the street or drop by at the grocery store to buy our essential stocks, but we can't hang out with each other and are strictly required to stay six feet away from each other. If you normally visit the gym to workout, make it a habit to maintain your regular exercises even at home.

“Keeping a routine can help you stay sane during isolation.”
- Patrick Allmond (10:54-11:02)

For those of you who are working from home or you're an entrepreneur who's used to going out and having active movements, it's best to maintain your pre-work routines. Keep yourself clean by showering even if you don’t have anywhere else to go. And if planning your food and fitness habits help you stay sane, then keep them on your daily schedule. If you’re a teacher, you can also start developing an online class to help others.

Part Two of ‘How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19’

This is also a perfect time to look at your garage. Look at the stuff around your house. It may be a good time for some cleaning since you've got a lot of extra time. You can do it with your family since you're probably spending a lot of time with them at home. It's also an opportunity to learn how to get along with them better. And if you have kids, help them understand that regular learning is important. So, that's where you can step in as a parent or older adult to teach and guide them, whatever needs they may have. If they’re smart, now may also be a good time to throw some even harder challenges at home to push their limits.

“Maintaining a routine offers a lot of mental health benefits.”
-  Patrick Allmond (20:25-20:27)

It's time to get creative when it comes to education or business. Don't wait for the pandemic to be over before you get back to your daily routines. Don't forget to stretch and stay hydrated. Hopefully, you found some educational resources that you need during this time. There’s a lot of unique things that you can do. If you're interested in marketing, advertising or technology related things, reach out to Patrick through a private message.

SDN EP: 81 – Easy Planning For Lazy People

Spread the love

“There are many online tools to make your business life easier.” - Patrick Allmond (03:16-03:22)

Struggling to reach your business objectives?

Find yourself wasting time on projects with little chance of success?

It's time to stop doing nothing. It’s time to identify your business goals clearly through planning. In this week's episode, Patrick Allmond provides a simple guideline for easy planning.

Part One of ‘Easy Planning for Lazy People’

Planning is the road map that guides you. We often underestimate this crucial step of the process. There are ways to do it without stealing a massive amount of your time. We all have a lot of things we need to accomplish on a daily basis. You need to discover the right tools and tricks to simplify the planning stage.

“Long term planning is really important.” - Patrick Allmond

If you're into lead generation, there are online tools that you can use to make your business life more comfortable. We live in a digital age that helps you expand your network and organize the things that require your immediate attention.

Part Two of ‘Easy Planning for Lazy People’

The best time to start planning for your business is now. The right information will save you from making poor decisions. If you are a lazy planner and you don't want to overthink things, consider getting a physical calendar. Perhaps you're currently using a digital calendar or planner. There is simplicity and peace of mind that comes from having your plans on a physical calendar.

“If you're stressing out daily about getting things done in your business, then consider doing it weekly and quarterly.” -  Patrick Allmond (13:45-13:51)

If you're stressing out daily about getting things done in your business, then consider scheduling weekly and quarterly. Consider putting measurement points or specific a timeframe for you to accomplish your written goals.

Skill #1013 that will help you develop a kick ass life.

Rapid decision making.

I’ve learn through a ton of trial and error…. And error…. And error…. That it’s rarely possible for me to make a “bad decision”. If I think about something for more than 30 minutes, that means I’ve weighed the most important factors in my head.

Black and white. Right and wrong. Some decisions are like that. Should I hit this person with my car? No. Should I rob this bank? No. You always have a choice even in those scenarios. We make a lot of choice like this every day on autopilot. And as we know some people make the dark choices.

Most of decisions you make do not result in permanent repercussions.

It’s rarely your choice that get you into trouble in your life or business. It’s the delay of making a choice, accepting the default choice, or letting someone else decide for you that takes you on a path of regret.

Learn to make fast choices. Then get on with the plan. This will allow you spend more time doing, and less time postponing the inevitable. It also prevents life making the choice for you when you are out of options.

Learn to make fast choices.

3 Steps to Engineering a Comeback

Spread the love

In 1999, author and motivational speaker Willie Jolle wrote a best selling book,  “A Setback is a Setup for a Comeback”. In this work the author explores the curveballs that life can throw your way and how successful people respond to those obstacles. The work gives twelve simple strategies that can turn your “trials into triumphs, your problems into possibilities, and your setbacks into comebacks.” I thought about that concept, turning a “setback into a comeback,” several times during 2017 and 2018. A lifetime of battling obesity and diabetes led to two below knee amputations, congestive heart failure and Stage 5 Kidney Disease, which requires dialysis three times a week. At age 52, I was certainly facing a setback with a tough comeback road ahead.

Prior to my health issues, I had been a successful customer experience executive.  At the height of my career I was Director of Global Customer Care for a large retail organization. In this capacity I led a Vendor Management Program consisting of seven Business Processing Outsourcers (BPOs) in five countries and ten cities with up to 1000 FTEs worldwide. After eighteen months of multiple operations, extended hospital stays and rehabilitation, I was staging the comeback of a lifetime. I was challenged with recovering while building a Training/Coaching/Speaking business and releasing two books. As a new entrepreneur, I have discovered three keys to engineering a comeback:

?Recognizing your fear does not mean that you do not feel fear! ... "feel the fear and do it anyways."

Click to Tweet

RECOGNIZE Your Fear

Recognizing your fear does not mean that you do not feel fear! It does mean that you place it in its’ proper perspective. I was afraid of launching a new business and how my former colleagues would respond to me now that I was reaching out to them to sell my services. I learned to acknowledge my fears and not be overwhelmed by them. Susan Jeffers says, “feel the fear and do it anyways.” Norman Vincent Peale in his book “The Power of Positive Thinking” says, “don’t take counsel of your fear.”

REMEMBER Your Past Victories

During my extended rehabilitation, I had to remind myself of all the great things I had accomplished in the past. Prior to my illnesses, I had built a great career developing relationships with respected leaders across the world. I also had a beautiful family and enjoyed the respect of my community. I had to recognize that I was still the same person despite my new disabilities. John Maxwell’s “ Law of the Mirror” in his book 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth states that it is "impossible to consistently behave in a manner inconsistent with how we see ourselves.” Although I now had two prosthetic legs and I was learning to walk again, I had to remind myself of the great things that I was capable of doing before anyone else would believe in my potential.

RUN Towards Your Enemy

To engineer a comeback you have to take intentional action in a positive direction. In one of the greatest underdog stories of all time, David and Goliath, the young future King of Israel demonstrates this by taking his sling and 5 smooth stones and running towards the giant! My illness was my giant and I would run towards this enemy by completing two books and launching a business, Korrior Inc., prior to my release from a nursing home! I literally wrote my first book while having two fifteen gauge dialysis needles plunged deeply into my left arm three days a week while typing my book using my right arm.

My story is certainly not complete but I am in the midst of engineering a successful comeback from my setback. Your setback may be an illness or career change or the loss of a relationship. No matter your obstacle, I encourage you to recognize your fears, remember your past victories and run towards your giant to start your comeback today!
