Personally, I think of it as having the water cooler or office kitchen right next to your cube.  There is a continuous stream of people and conversation that I hop in and out of.  Some of it has value, some is inane, some is news/event-related, and some are just pleasantries.

More than anything I use it to build my brand and keep in touch with the rest of the DC Tech Scene.  It's an easy way to see what others are thinking/talking about, what is going on, and generally be a (tiny!) part of each others' lives.  I think it's pulled us tighter together as a community.</description>
