Passive income: My top 4 ways to head towards the life I want

    Monday, July 16th, 2007

A couple of years I decided that I wanted to work less, I wanted to work easier, and I wanted to work my hours.

Pretty simple stuff and I would not be suprised if a good chunk of hard working people all over the world have the same aspirations.

Who wants to work more? Or harder? Or somebody elses hours. Let me know if you find that person. They need a good virtual slap.

To accomplish this I also decided I need to make certain changes in my thinking and in my life. Some of them are:

    1. I need to eliminate computer programming from my life as one of my daily tasks. I’ve been doing this since I was probably 10. Sitting in front of a computer in some kind of editor writing programs to make the computer do cool things. I just don’t want to do it anymore. If you have been in the IT field for awhile you may feel the same way.. or not.

    2. Work with people that are smarter than me. In eliminating the computer programming I need to find people that are better at it than me and get their help. Coding is part of my business model and will probably always be around me. But it is time for the younger generation to do it.

    3. Gain my freedom. This ties back to number one up there again. If I can stay away from programming I will free up an amazing amount of time in my life to do other things. Flying, Piano, Walking, Wife, Daughter. Pick one. They are all more important to me than coding.

    4. Earn my income in an easier fashion: This is where the passive income comes into play. I’ll be writing more articles about this as time progresses. And I don’t want to earn money so I can collect large stacks of green pieces of paper with dead presidents on them. I want to earn the income to allow me to have the freedom (see previous bullet point) to hang out with my wife, my daughter, my plane, my piano, my planet more. But I don’t want to have to slave away for 8 hours a day to earn that income.

Those are the ones that I could remember off the top of my head. More to come about how I am going to accomplish these items.

Do you ever have the same desires I do? If so I’d like to hear about it in my comments.

    Livin’ Lovin’ Lovin’ Livin’,

    Patrick

    I think you are lazy!

    Friday, March 30th, 2007

Not you… my faithful reader. The people who go to forums looking for fast and easy answers.

I was over at Steve Pavlinas excellent forums and I saw a post/poll that I see quite often in any forum having to do with finance, wealth or making money online. It usually comes from somebody with a fairly low post count (<100).

“Tell me how you made money online” or “tell me all of the affiliate programs you joined to make money online” or “What is the best/worst/most profitable way to make money online”.

And every time I read that I think – Why didn’t you just take the time you wasted with that post and read the same information that has been posted 100 times over and over again – and then act on it . Then do what people have done before. Quit waiting for someone to give you the magical right answers. STOP DOING NOTHING.

I suppose it is just frustrating to watch people standing around yelling “tell me how you did it tell me how you did it” instead of getting up and actually doing it themselves.

Heading over to http://abestweb.com to see how to make money online. Those people are damn smart and appear to have all of the answers. If you go anyplace else to learn how to make money online… well then I guess I see you next time you make that post “How do I make money online!” ;-)

    BatteryFuel ShareASale Program Launched

    Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

It did not happen exactly as I had planned it to happen, but my company BatteryFuel has activated our program on ShareASale  today.

I was in the process of getting this set up to launch here in about a month. But due to miscommunication I was approved early. So I have spent all evening putting the right things in place to handle this.

As of right now we only have text and graphic banners. But we will be working on getting the product feed up with our 90,000+ product list. Stay tuned for that. If you want some more details or would like to request some custom information please contact me privately or leave a comment.

I really do see our program as a great way for any electronic or battery focus affiliate to earn major bank. All it takes is some good hard work. If you want more information let me know and I will take care of you.

    Have a great weekend,

    Patrick

Focus & Action is all you need to succeed

    Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Linda Buquet has made a very elegant and timely post over at 5 Star Affiliate Marketing Forums about learning to Focus in your affiliate marketing efforts. This is something that is amazingly hard to do in life – whether we are talking about affiliate marketing or about driving a car down the street. But it is also absolutely AMAZING what someone can accomplish when they do focus. Do one thing and do it good and you excel above the rest.

Since about 1998 I have been on my own in business. I left a job that paid very well at IBM to become an independent consultant. All of the joys and luxuries (and hardships and taxes) that come along with owning your own business were suddenly thrust upon my naive shoulders. Among all of the other things I had to work on there was the task of coming up with a company name. ATBS Consulting was the name that popped into my head (or my wifes head) one evening back in 1998. It stands for “All things big and small”. Hey what can I say – I thought it was catchy and it met with the approval of my better 1/2 so it was good enough for me.

Then about 2-3 years ago I decided that I wanted my business and my efforts to have meaning. I did not want to be just like every other consultant out there. I wanted to bring a message to my clients that my company was going to be able to help them solve the biggest problem they had at the time. We were not going to try and tackle all of the demons that a company had when we started working with them ; we were going to tackle them one at a time. And the one we were tackling would get my complete and undivided attention. My friends and family were brainstorming in the car coming North back into Oklahoma City from a road trip  and it hit us (it might have been on the side of a truck): Focus Consulting Inc. For some reason it immediately felt right. By presenting that name and a short tag line to any company I would be able to instantly tell them what my “value add” was above my competitors.

Today I still strongly believe that FOCUSed ACTION will get you anywhere you want to go. That is why I renamed my company, and that is why I started this website. Together you and I are going to go on a journey of focused action and accomplish great things. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Only 4 days until Affiliate Summit. And I still can’t wait.

    xo,

    Patrick

Heading to Affiliate Summit West 2007

    Sunday, January 14th, 2007

One of my many interests is affiliate marketing. And if you are the least bit involved in this field then you are aware of the twice annual migration of affiliates to Affiliate Summit.

The first Affiliate Summit of 2007 (Las Vegas) will be here in just under a week – and I could not be more excited. Affiliate marketing is one of those fields that with a lot of hard work and time dedication can make you a modest income while giving you a lot of freedom. And that is one of things in life that I find myself looking for more and more – freedom.

The people I am going to meet are people of action. And if I had to choose one word to describe me and the people around me that I like then that would be the word. I have chatted online with so many people who make their living the “affiliate marketing ” way. One of the common threads in all of my discussion is the freedom that this sort of lifestyle brings you.

I learned a long time ago that nothing I do should be solely about the money. It should be about buying my own time. And I just cannot wait to get around people the feel and think the same way.

Are you going to be there? If so look up Patrick Allmond and let’s sit down for a chat. I don’t know who you are and it really does not matter. More than likely you are a person like me who does not want to sit around and do nothing. You want to construct a life and buy some freedom.

    See you in a week.

    Bad weather has its benefits

    Sunday, January 14th, 2007

The weather in my state and the states surrounding us has been terrible the past three days, and forecast says we have one more day to go. This is not fun if you get cabin fever easily – which I do. However it is a GREAT time to get stuff done in the office and online.

This weekend I have been able to…

    - Consolidate all of my hosting accounts to one company

    - Make some mods to this site and get it to a usable point

    - Cancel my other hosting accounts so now I am down from 3 to 1

    - Brainstorm on some ideas with a friend of mine (via MSN IM) of how to make progress in our online/offline ventures.

    - Start planning the end of the week when I am going to go to the Affiliate Summit.

What did you do today to take a step forward?

    Love ya,

    Patrick
