What is one thing that you should go back and tell your younger self?
I was thinking about that on my walk this morning and it would have been probably in my mid to late twenties, early thirties, going back in a time machine, kicking myself in the butt and telling my younger self that I may not be capable of learning everything on my own. I used to have this attitude of, you know what I’ve got, you know, online stuff.
I’ve got YouTube, I’ve got books, I’ve got libraries. I can self teach everything I want. But man, I will progress so much faster with a mentor, with a teacher, with a coach. I’m not selling anything here. This is me talking to younger Patrick saying, man, there are people out there smarter than you.
Take advantage of them, meaning pay for their time, pay for their expertise. Because I’m trying to learn everything on my own. I will never get there. I wish I would have known that earlier.
