Oftentimes I hold off on my first cup of coffee until I’m actually LIVE on camera because I don’t want to get, you know, two or three in and be wired and bouncing off the walls because I have been told I’m already bouncing off the walls. I need to slow down.
Okay, back on track here … Today I want to talk to you about something that’s holding way too many businesses back — waiting for perfection. Stop doing nothing and start taking action!
We often get trapped in this mindset where we think everything needs to be flawless before we launch that marketing campaign or reach out to a potential client. But here’s the reality: done is better than perfect.
I’ve been working with businesses for years, especially in digital marketing and lead generation, and I’ve seen it all. Businesses that grow quickly and successfully aren’t waiting for the stars to align. They’re taking imperfect action — putting themselves out there, adjusting on the fly, and learning along the way. The key is to stop overthinking and start doing.
Here’s What Could Be Holding You Back …
I’ve seen businesses tank for a few key reasons, and I want you to avoid these pitfalls:
- Targeting everyone: Listen, if you try to market to everyone, you’ll end up reaching no one. You’ve got to find your niche and speak directly to them.
- Lowering your prices too much: Sure, being competitive is important, but don’t sell yourself short by becoming the lowest-priced option in the market. Focus on value instead.
- Filling your calendar with non-essential tasks: Time management is crucial. If you’re spending too much time on things that don’t move the needle, you’re wasting your most valuable resource.
Get Smart About Marketing and Outsourcing:
A lot of businesses struggle with marketing, but let me tell you — referrals are gold. You should be asking for referrals regularly. Don’t be afraid to talk about your business, wear your brand (custom t-shirts, anyone?), and always keep your name out there. And here’s a big one: stop trying to do everything yourself. You don’t have to be an expert in every single thing. It’s time to outsource the tasks that don’t play to your strengths and focus on what you do best — building your vision.
