Beware of automatic Facebook community pages

If you have worked with Focus Consulting Inc you are very familiar with Fan pages and Group pages. But what about community pages? Community pages are a new feature of Facebook that are just being rolled out. It looks like a community page is meant to build a group around a shared interest (Cooking, Bowline, Hopscotch, etc). So far people have been using Fan pages for this type of community building.

Community pages are brand new, and there is no way to contribute to them yet. As you see them come up you are allowed to “Like” them but you are given the following message:

“Our goal is to make this Community Page the best collection of shared knowledge on this topic. If you have a passion for Cycling, sign up and we’ll let you know when we’re ready for your help. You can also get us started by suggesting the Official Facebook Page.”
But what I find really interesting is the Automatic community pages that are being built based on your job description you put at a given company. So if several people put down “Slave” as their job title and Facebook knows they all work at the same company FooFoo Inc then Facebook will automatically create a Community page for FooFoo Inc Slaves. This is going to be embarrassing to a lot of companies that have  people at the lower rungs that are not too happy with their jobs.
