Depression is not always a massive overwhelming feeling that life is horrible and that you want to end your existence. Gradual depression can also be the little things that make you feel less than human. A friend throws a small dig at you. Your bank account is low. Your job is unfulfilling. Your spouse is paying little less attention to you. You are a little overweight and very self-conscious. Some people are capable of blow these small issues off, while others can severely affect by what may seem a small issue from someone not experiencing it. These little things can creep up on you and before you know it, you have found fault with every place you look. It can happen in 10 minutes. Or it can happen gradually over a long period of time.
Be sure to keep an eye on all areas of your life for depression and stop it early. As soon as possible replace even the most minor of negative thoughts with a positive one. There is ALWAYS, always, always something good going on in your life. You may have to work hard to find it. But it is there. Track it down. Hug it. Kiss it. Embrace it with everything you’ve got. It may be the one thing that keeps you going. If you are having trouble getting yourself out of a depressive state, immediately reach out to a friend or family member. In some cases, you may not need professional help. The act of being around another person might be enough to put a smile on your face. As annoying as it may be, it can also help to seek out groups of optimistic people. There is a good chance you will start to assume the state of any optimistic people in your presence.
Always be on guard against depression. There is a great world out there that is offering you unlimited possibilities. If you look hard enough, you are bound to find light at the end of some tunnel.
